South Korea has until the end of the year to craft a new rule for women who want to terminate their pregnancy, after the constitutional court of the country struck down a long-standing and restrictive abortion law. Without the need for a special purpose or medical need to be present, a bill introduced last week will allow abortions before 14 weeks of gestation.

With data from the Center for Reproductive Rights, a world map of abortion laws shows that Korea is one of the few developed countries in the world to still criminalize abortion.

Ireland fell off that list almost two years ago by beginning to allow abortions without limitation by reason after a popular referendum. Before, Ireland had some of the world's strictest abortion laws.
