As the epidemic of coronavirus continues to wreak havoc across the globe, the time people spend on the couch is now spending that would otherwise have been spent perusing malls or living events.

It's no surprise that during this period of pandemic-induced social isolation, people are consuming huge amounts of media. Today's graphics are using data from a survey from the Global Web Index to analyze how people have increased their media consumption as a result of the outbreak, and how it varies across each generation.

Global Web Index found that over 80 per cent of U.S. and UK consumers say they have been consuming more content since the outbreak, with broadcasting TV and online videos (YouTube, TikTok) being the primary media across generations and genders.

Unsurprisingly, 68 per cent of consumers are searching for online pandemic alerts over any other operation. Gen Zers has other ambitions, however, because they are the only generation that is more likely to listen to music than to search for news.
