With the amount of jobs available declining and increasing daily traffic, many Americans get tired of all the extra driving time they need to get to work. The typical national commute is 26 minutes, which adds an extra hour to an already long day of work. Wouldn't a 10 minute train commute be a dream?

It is possible but you will most likely have to move to a major metropolitan area to make it a reality. This infographic shares the results of a study in 49 of America's largest metropolitan areas, which calculated the number of jobs that can be accessed by foot or mass transit in 10 minutes.

It even compares the number of jobs that can also be reached in 20-60 minutes, to get a better idea of how many jobs residents can easily find in each subway area. It's no wonder that New York City residents, 30 per cent of whom take advantage of the city's mass transit system, have the most jobs available in the shortest commute times.
