When it seems like green space is quickly disappearing, we can count on the various state parks and national parks through the United States to be there when we need an escape into the wilderness. The nation's 61 national parks are the more well-known and spoken about these two kinds of parks, but did you know that there are more than 3,700 state parks all over the U.S. too!?

That is a total of 74 provincial government parks! California, New York, and Washington each boasts more than 200 state parks, with California leading its own 270 pack. California can also boast that its state also has the most national parks within its boundaries, covering more than 6.3 million hectares in nine out of 61.
