Forgiveness is Christian faith's pillar. We recognize that Christ died for pardon, and we understand that we have the right to forgive others. But sometimes, due to a lack of understanding or feelings of bitterness we have not dealt with, we may not fully understand the necessity and power of true forgiveness.

I'd have grudges like that once I meet Jesus. Especially when I was treated unfairly by myself or others. But everything changed when I was saved, including my ability to let go of crimes and to forgive more readily. It is so much easier to show compassion and forgiveness to others when we understand the magnitude of an ideal God acknowledging each of our bad, selfish, even terrible deeds and feelings, and still choosing to love and forgive us. Because you change your outlook and the way you see life when you understand God.

Each problem, problem, annoyance or provocation in the light of eternity seems to carry little weight. If you communicate with the God who gave his son for you every day, it is difficult to carry a grudge. "Thank you, Lord, for everlasting life and liberty, but I can't just forgive my sister for refusing to watch my boys." So if April sends this to my old college friend, I will forgive you without asking to ruin half my wardrobe... And in that moment, I'm sorry to cover your car keys. Okay, on both occasions.
