Coins have a comparatively rich history in the United States. There's something out there to attract anyone from the early coins like the 300 pieces and half hundred pieces to some of the more recent classics like the Sacagawea dollar. Some of this old American currency can also give us an insight into American history fields, including the copper shortage that happened during the Second World War.

This chart source looks at the metal content of American coins dating from 1783.As you can imagine, there are several retired and outdated coins, including the 20-cent piece, which wasn't a huge hit because, due to its small weight and size, people sometimes mistaken it for a quarter.
