IS IT A COLD OR THE FLU? #INFOGRAPHIC

Influenza and cold are both respiratory illnesses but specific bacteria cause them. Due to the similar symptoms of these two forms it is difficult for patients to differentiate between them alone. In fact, flu is worse than normal weather, with more severe symptoms.

By general, the colds are milder than flu. Those with colds are more likely to runny or stuffy nose. Colds generally don't cause serious health problems like pneumonia, bacterial infection, or hospitalization.

Because colds and influenza have a number of illnesses, differentiating between them on the basis of symptoms may be difficult (or even impossible). Special tests can tell if an individual has influenza, usually done in the first few days of the disease.
