Every year a growing section of the population no longer remembers images loading a single pixel line at a time, the earsplitting noise of a 56k modem, or web portal supremacy. Many of the top pages from 1998 were basically news aggregators or search engines which are easy to understand.
Today, brand touchpoints are often spread between smartphones (e.g. mobile apps versus web sites) and a multitude of services and sub-brands (e.g. Facebook app constellation). Consequently, the world's largest websites are complex, interconnected Internet resources.
