In 2018, counterfeit products caused economic damage of $323 billion. Some of these counterfeits have resulted in damage to property and even deaths. But what qualifies as a counterfeit item? There are two common types of counterfeits, knock-offs and pirated items. Knock-offs are almost imitations of copyrighted material and designer products. Pirated goods are copyrighted works that are reproduced without the consent of the owner.

Unknowingly, more than one in four clients reported online purchases of non-genuine goods. Fake products are often found on seemingly innocent sites such as mobile applications and search engines. Brands do need it. There are a number of significant reasons to avoid fakes. Fakes rarely meet safety requirements that can lead to property damage, injury, and even death. Falsifications also make the economy more expensive, in terms of production and prices. Fraudulent merchants can also steal personal information about you and your loan card to make fake copies of you.
