Since ship designers began installing copper commonly in the mid-19th century to protect the masts of wooden ships from lightning, the special relationship between copper and electricity has been obvious. Of course, today you may be more used to seeing copper electrical apps using power lines, telephone cables, and wiring in nearly every major home appliance you own.
Millions of tons are used annually for these applications, but there are still early days to use copper in electrification. This is because copper will continue to be a critical element of the green power revolution due to the growing adoption of battery-powered vehicles.
