As they say, love makes the world go round.' They also claim that real love rarely goes smoothly. This is certainly true of the relationship-based Marvel Universe, starting with the flagship title The Fantastic Four, which broke from the company's tradition of publishing monster titles to show an explorer family.

The family dynamics involving these four personalities brought something new to the comics pages— a romance between an aloof scientist and a young woman who grew up to learn the full extent of her power, a flawed thing that couldn't completely believe in the love he discovered, a brash young man who often enables his heart to override his common feeling.

The new and different approach to stories brought to life a variety of interactions that distinguished, romantic and otherwise, the evolving Marvel Universe. Happy marriages, bitter breakups, triangles of love, weddings of surprise and covert relations. At least one stalker was searching for her twisted gunpoint vengeance.

There are mothers and children who have a good relationship with each other — and those who learn late in life about their interactions with each other. And there are men like brothers who just can't see eye-to-eye, and there is a bitter debate between them that attracts long-standing relationships throughout the world's superhero society, wrecking painfully as each is compelled to take sides. The Marvel Universe here has always changed 19 relationships, and one that nearly destroyed them.
