The Bic Mac is likely the first thing you'll think about beyond those golden arches if someone informs you about McDonalds.

The Big Mac was first introduced in 1967 by a U.S.-based Pennsylvania McDonalds franchisee and had become a nationwide staple menu within a year. As popularity grew and McDonalds made its presence known all over the globe, so did the Big Mac and it is now available in over 100 countries.

A simple, fuss-free burger, the Big Mac traditionally consists of two beef patties, one-of - a-kind sauce, cheese, lettuce, pickles and onions, and three-part sesame seed bun. This concept of keeping it simple means that it is easy to translate, although the idea is incorrect that wherever you are, all Big Macs are the same.

The composition of a Big Mac is affected by a number of factors; from where the meat comes from, right down to the country's religion in which it is sold.
